Sciatica ensues when the sciatic nerve, the body’s largest and longest nerve, becomes inflamed, compressed, or irritated. The sciatic nerve runs from the below the spinal cord through the pelvis, buttocks, hips, legs, calves and feet.
As with many conditions, there is more than just one cause of sciatica. The condition is caused by the sciatic nerve becoming pinched, usually in the lower back, thus causing pain. Sciatica could also result from a herniated or slipped disc, or other conditions such as tumors, arthritis, diabetes, and vitamin deficiencies. Everyday activities such as bending, twisting, walking, sitting, standing or running can bring about symptoms of sciatica.
Dr. Nick Baiata is able to locate and treat sciatica using a hands on non-surgical approach.
